The best kind of mitzvah

When I went to pick Keith up from the shuttle, he was with a co-worker we knew slightly who lives near us. Of course, I gave him a ride home. After dropping him off, I said to Keith:

We did a mitzvah [good deed], and we didn't have to go out of our way. That's the best kind of mitzvah -- check the Talmud.

Actually, the best kind of mitzvah is when you help someone you don't know. Good news: I didn't remember that guy's name.

("Check the Talmud" was a subtle allusion to a remark by Al Gore on Futurama. See item 15 of Anthology of Interest I, my favorite quote from the series. One time when Al Gore spoke at Google, I asked him during the question period to repeat the line.)
